Moffi Downs PSG, Dennis Assists On Debut; Odey, Olayinka Contribute

Lorient striker, Terem Moffi might have had a slow start to life in the French Ligue 1, but he will take some stopping on current form as he has now scored in 5 consecutive games for The Merlucciidaes, with his latest coming in the most difficult circumstances.

Moffi had started on the bench against PSG, watching as his side took a shock lead through Laurent Abergel, before two Neymar penalties either side of halftime turned the game on its head.

The Parisians held the lead for 22 minutes until Yoane Wissa plucked their heartstrings in the 80 minutes via a well-taken equaliser.

With PSG throwing hook, line and sinker to grab a late win, they were left vulnerable to a quick break from the home side and when the counter attack came, it fell to Lorient’s top marksman Moffi, who drove from the halfway line to the PSG box to net his 5th in 5 games, and 6th for Lorient, earning them a shock but vital 3-2 victory.

The win moves Lorient out of automatic relegation places to 18th, level on points with 17th place Nantes, who have played one game more.

In the German Bundesliga, new boy, Emmanuel Dennis, made his debut for FC Köln and assisted in a 3-1 win over Arminia Bielefeld.

The forward was utilised in a striking position and assisted the third in an otherwise quiet first game. He had completed a loan move from Belgian giants Club Brugge to help Köln survive a relegation battle and the win moved them to 14th, one point above relegation.

In the lower rungs of Europe in the French Ligue 2, Stephen Odey scored the winner for Amiens in their 1-0 win of Chateauroux.

The goal was the 23-year-old’s 3rd of the season and it moved his loan-club to within five points of promotion places.

In the Czech topflight, inform forward, Peter Olayinka, extended his purple patch with an assist in Slavia Praha’s 3-0 win over Jablonec to extend their lead at the top to 12 points midway into the season.

The 25-year-old has scored 2 goals and provided 2 assists in his last 3 appearances since returning from injury. In total, he now has 9 goals and 3 assists in all competitions this seasons .
