Writer and director Wanuri Kahiu is part of the new generation of African story tellers whose second feature in film Rafiki took about six years to reach the big scene.
Rafiki is a women led film with female directors , writers , Hods , crew members and trainees and sound track artists .
When asked what the movie is all about , this is what he had to say ..
‘The movie is all about Good Kenyan girls who became good Kenyan wife’s but Kena and Ziki long for something more despite the political rivalry between both families but the girls resists and later became close to each other and also supporting each other to pursue their dreams in a conservative society ‘.
He further said that the story is a creation about and a celebration about Kenyan women working in the creative economy.
