West Brom have made a proposal to Bordeaux to sign striker Josh Maja, according to Clive Hetherington, writing in The Sunday Mirror.
The baggies have struggled badly in front of goal since earning promotion to the top-flight, scoring 11 goals in 17 appearances with their highest goal scorer being Conor Gallagher and Callum Robinson with two goals each.
This deficiency have had them languishing in 19th place, forcing them to fire Slaven Bilic and hire relegation-specialist Sam Allardyce.
And the ex-England manager has tried to solve his club’s hoodoo in front of goal by recruiting Maja who he coached during his time at Sunderland where he made a name for himself with 15 goals in 17 appearances.
Josh Maja’s inconsistencies have seen him in and out of the Bordeaux squad as he has scored 2 goals in 17 games, failing to net in any of his last 10 games.
The Sunday mirror states that “Maja is subject of a West Brom enquiry.”
They are interested in an initial loan deal with an option to make it permanent if they survive relegation at the end of the season.
